The Karaman family home is built on a steep slope on the eastern edge of town. Mahmoud is a pharmacist who owns a local pharmacy; Manal has business of her own, in which local Palestinian food is cooked. The Karamans have three children: Dima, the eldest daughter, who\u2019s attending medical school in Germany; son Mahmoud, studying pharmacy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and daughter Rama, attending the local Al-Ahliyya school. The Karamans live on the upper floor of the house; on the ground floor is Manal\u2019s home restaurant, where she does the cooking and hosts groups.<\/span><\/p>
