American Friends of the
Umm el-Fahem Museum of Art

Mission

The American Friends of Umm el-Fahem Museum of Art is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in the U.S. dedicated to supporting the first Arab art museum in Israel.
The American Friends supports the Museum through philanthropy and raises awareness for the Museum as a center for world-class art and intercultural dialogue in Israel to promote a shared society.

Since its founding in 2012, the American Friends has raised funds to support the permanent collections, changing exhibitions, historical archive, and education programs of the Umm el-Fahem Gallery of Art and to realize the Gallery’s vision of becoming the first Arab museum of art in Israel. In 2025, the Israeli government granted the institution its official status as a museum. In 2027, the American Friends will celebrate the opening of the Umm el-Fahem Museum of Art.

The American Friends is dedicated to supporting the Museum into the future, as well as hosting conversations and gatherings with Museum founders, curators, artists, and community members to cultivate an international network committed to supporting the Museum.

By connecting the greater community abroad to exhibitions that reflect the richness and complexity of the region, the American Friends strengthens the Museum as a vital center where cultures and religions pursue a shared future together in Israel.
