The year is 2836. The apocalypse has already occurred. Artificial intelligence has taken over Mars, and Earth is in a state of climate chaos. Saif, a humanoid robot and exiled Palestinian, embarks on a dystopian journey from his home in Algiers, through Alexandria and Gaza, to settle the inheritance of his father’s estate in Greater Palestine. Will this journey bring him redemption, or will it lead him to ruin? In his new work, Janam stretches the future that cannot (yet) be imagined; combining, deconstructing, challenging, and reassembling symbols, narratives, identities, and collective memories into a futuristic journey that explores the possible, the impossible, and the spaces in between.
