The Karaman family home is built on a steep slope on the eastern edge of town. Mahmoud is a pharmacist who owns a local pharmacy; Manal has business of her own, in which local Palestinian food is cooked. The Karamans have three children: Dima, the eldest daughter, who’s attending medical school in Germany; son Mahmoud, studying pharmacy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem; and daughter Rama, attending the local Al-Ahliyya school. The Karamans live on the upper floor of the house; on the ground floor is Manal’s home restaurant, where she does the cooking and hosts groups.

This feminine space invites visitors to contemplate the world of women, motherhood, intergenerational bonding, and the traditional baggage that accompanies this relationship.
