The Umm el-Fahem Museum of Art pays tribute to the founding generation of contemporary Palestinian art — the artists who paved the way, laid the cultural foundations, and shaped the language of Palestinian art as we know it today.

On October 25, 2025, the Museum held the first-ever gathering of its members — a significant milestone on its path toward the future. To mark this occasion, the Museum’s management dedicated a special tribute to the founding generation of artists, in recognition of their outstanding contribution to the development of Palestinian art.

Among the artists invited to the event — as well as representatives of the families of those who are no longer with us — were: Abed Abdi, the late Walid Abu Shakra, the late Ibrahim Hazimeh, Juhaina Habibi Kandalaft, Bashir Abu Rabia, and Suleiman Mansour.

To mark the occasion, the Museum presents an intimate exhibition featuring a selection of works by each of these artists — offering a first glimpse into the Museum’s permanent collection and the creative legacies of artists who have inspired generations to come.

This exhibition marks the beginning of a broader initiative: in the coming years, the Museum plans to present a series of comprehensive retrospective exhibitions dedicated to each of the founding artists. Through this endeavor, the Museum seeks to illuminate their contribution as artists, as trailblazers, and as members of a generation that built the cultural foundations of Palestinian society in Israel.
